On Monday evening we began our big adventure for the week: we traveled up north to spend the week in Snowbird with Brandon's family! Kylie was so good on our trip up. She didn't sleep, but she did hardly any complaining. It helped that we stopped at a park in Beaver and let her run around for 20 minutes. We stopped at Brandon's parents house for the night and got to visit with Aunt Chantel for a while before we all crashed. Or, at least tried to. The room we slept in had glow in the dark stars, which really excited Kylie for practically an hour.
Tuesday morning we continued up to Snowbird and then the fun began! Kylie was very excited to see Grandma Shari and play with her. We were all happy to be up in the mountain where it is nice and cool and green. Grandma Shari, Kylie and I all went out for a walk to explore the activities. Kylie just loved it, especially when we got her a pass to the bounce house. She had a blast jumping around, and then when some other kids showed her how to climb the slides, she had fun sliding down about a million times. She always had the biggest grin on her face when she came down the slides.
We tried something new this trip: Kylie in her own grown-up bed! Usually on trips she co-sleeps, so I was very excited when the whole time we were up at Snowbird Kylie slept all night and even took her naps in her own bed. Yay!!!
Wednesday morning started early- before 7 AM early. Ugh. No one else was awake, so we took some raisins and cereal out into the lounge area and ate some breakfast and watched some cartoons on my phone. Finally people were awake and ready to play again.
Kylie and Aunt Kelsey invented a game that involved standing on the hot tub and playing peek-a-boo through the window. It was Kylie's favorite thing ever and she seriously wanted to play it forever and ever and ever it seemed.
Once again Grandma Shari and I took Kylie to the bounce house where she was completely thrilled and wore herself out. Instead of taking a nap, however, we grabbed Brandon and rode the tram up the mountain to Hidden Peak and took in the view. It wasn't too exciting for Kylie, because she was already tired and it was all just looking at mountain scenery, but she was a trooper.
After that Brandon and I rode the zip line and then we all took the chair lift up. It was fun to take Kylie up that, and over the several days that we were there we all took turns sitting with her.
Finally we got our nap in, and then came more activities. This time we took her down the Alpine Slide. Kylie really liked that. She went down with Brandon first, then Grandpa Gary, and then me. When I took her down she spent the whole time saying "Ah hahaha". It was really cute.
Then we went swimming again and finally passed out after a fun-filled day.
Thursday Kylie actually slept in a little, but we all had to get up early so we could go to Hogle Zoo!! I was very excited to take her to the zoo and see how she would react with all the animals there. Great- Grandpa and Grandma Naylor joined us at the zoo. We had quite a crowd with them, Brandon, Kylie, Grandma Shari, Uncle Jordan and I.
Kylie was very good at looking through all the cages and displays at all the different animals. If they weren't moving she wasn't very interested (and probably didn't even notice them), but if they were moving Kylie really enjoyed watching them. Some of her favorites were the lemurs, jaguar, birds, and armadillos (all ones that played really close to the partition so Kylie could see them really well).
They also had a splash area in the zoo that of course Kylie could play all day in. She is such a fish! I also took her on the carousel which she loved (and hated that she had to get off...). She chose an animal that didn't move up and down, but just riding it as it went around made her very happy.
After a yummy lunch and nap we were ready to face the day again. We went to the park at Snowbird and let Kylie just run around. It's nice that she is old enough that she hardly needs help with the things she wants to do. She is very good at imitating other kids too, so that is nice!
Friday was the day that Brandon's family left Snowbird, so we only had the morning to play with them. Of course, all Kylie wanted to play was that hot tub peek-a-boo game. She literally threw the hugest tantrum when we were all worn out from playing it and refused to play it anymore. Ah, well. The afternoon we lounged away and had some relaxing time on our vacation finally (after all that running around from activity to activity!). Then, that evening my family came up to spend the night!! Once again Kylie was excited to see Grandma Tess, Grandpa Pete, and Uncle Tommy. After dinner we took a short hike to Lookout Point. I was impressed because Kylie walked almost the entire way! It was at a much slower pace with lots of distractions, of course, but she did a good job nevertheless.
Then we all went swimming (a mandatory activity every day this week) and came back and played Uno.
Saturday we had a yummy breakfast and packed up and went down to stay with the Hansen's for our last day up north. Kylie had trouble taking her nap that day, so she was pretty ornery for awhile. She had fun exploring the house and playing in the park right outside with Grandma Tess. She did manage to sleep for about an hour which helped a little when we went to the rec center later that evening to swim. Kylie really liked going down the slides there, and wanted to go into the teen diving pool and was very upset when she couldn't. It took a lot to distract her. We would be clear across the room, two pools away from it playing, and when she got out of the pool to jump back in (we assumed) she would book it over to the diving pool. She really likes jumping in the pool, and she just didn't understand why she couldn't jump in like all the older kids were over there.
Sunday morning we headed back home. It was a fun trip and Kylie got to try tons of new stuff! The ride home wasn't as peaceful as the ride up; Kylie just didn't enjoy sitting for so long in the car, but at least she slept for about an hour thankfully.
Happily we managed to revert to our normal schedule immediately. Sunday she went to bed at 8:30 (whereas she has been going to bed around 11 or later every day this past week...), and slept for 13 hours that first night back. Something I desperately needed as well. Now we are back to the heat and our same-old same-old, which is kinda nice after such a fun vacation :) Thanks to Grandma Shari and Grandpa Pete for sharing their pictures with me!! I think this is the most my picture has ever been on this blog thanks to them!

It was such a joy to have you all at Snowbird. You all made our trip wonderful. Kylie just lights up a room. I miss her already. We will have to find a way to come see you for fall break.
