This week we did try something new, though. Cool Whip painting. Messy and edible. Right up Kylie's lane. At first she was hesitant, but I kept showing her what to do and she got the hang of it.
Then she looked me in the eyes, and very slowly brought her loaded fingertip to her mouth. It was so funny because I just kept nodding my head and telling her it was okay, but she had this look on her face that seemed as if she ate it I would freak out. Once she found out she could eat it, and it was tasty, she went to town on it.
It took a few minutes, but eventually we got back to the "painting" bit and made a great big mess!
Saturday was Brandon and my anniversary, and we decided not to get a sitter and let Kylie tag along with us. We went to Olive Garden and had a nice dinner, and Kylie wasn't her usual awful self that she is at restaurants, so it was nice. She was happy with her food and the atmosphere (plenty of yelling babies to converse with), and she even got a bowl full of olives to eat! She likes to eat them by putting them on her fingers first (like every child does).
Sunday was Mother's Day, and Kylie surprised me in a few ways. First, she let me paint her fingernails! I was painting my toes, and she came up and held up her fingers, and I was surprised because she normally wouldn't hold still for something like this, but she did pretty well! First time my little girl has had fingernail polish on!! Then, at church, out of the blue Kylie started giving me kisses. It was so sweet and I just loved it. Usually with her if I ask for a kiss I usually get a slap instead, so I just grinned like a fool every time she leaned over to kiss me. So cute!
