It's nice to be home now and get into the groove of things once again. We arrived just in time to have several days of rain, which Kylie just loves. We went for walks out in the rain with her umbrella and did a lot of puddle jumping. The rain also cooled it down, so we were able to go outside on the sunny days in the middle of the day and not melt! Kylie just loves being outside and riding her bike and exploring. She also made friends with our new neighbor, a little girl a year older than her. The girl is at the bossy stage, but Kylie has no clue what is going on and likes to imitate her anyway, so it all works out :)
We also went swimming a few times this week (I have been avoiding it the past few weeks because I was sick of swimming every day this summer), and Kylie was very excited to be back in the water. We went to the rec center where Brandon took her down the big waterslide which she LOVED. After doing that she didn't want to do anything else. Then on Saturday she had a pool party she was invited to for her friend Kendall's birthday party. I was so surprised, because she usually puts a fight when we have to get out of the water, but this time, as we all went inside to sing happy birthday and have cupcakes she willingly got out and followed everyone inside. She was also very well behaved when it came to snack and cupcake eating and nearly listened to me every time I talked to her. That made me so happy! Then we swam some more with her friends before she decided it was time to go.
Kylie has been growing so fast it seems now. She understands practically everything we say, she remembers things I don't expect her to, and she has been saying some new words. She has been saying 'doggie', 'hot', and just recently 'Wall-E' (one of her favorite movies), and 'shoes'. Her mind is definitely sharp and she pays attention to everything that goes on around her. And she loves doing things the same every time. If she sees something done a certain way once, then it always has to be done that way. A little annoying...
Kylie has also gotten super picky at eating. Especially at dinner time. She is not willing to try new foods, and foods that she used to eat all the time she won't eat anymore. If she had her way her diet would consist of Cheetos and Pepperoni. And kitty treats. So sometimes she will sit in her chair and not eat a thing for 30 minutes. It is irritating because then I have to search for something healthy that she will actually eat.
Luckily I've heard this is a phase. One that lasts years. Yay!
